Italian shoe designer Salvatore Ferragamo created his first pair of shoes at age nine. After moving to America in 1914, he opened the Hollywood Boot Shop and became known as the "shoemaker to the stars." In 1927, the designer returned to Italy and founded his eponymous design house.
